Bird of Paradise

Last year we planted our bird of paradise by the mailbox. We hoped that it would survive our coldest winter ever and it has certainly surprised us with a flurry of repeat blooms this summer.

Green Anoles

Paul's favorite thing to do is walk around the garden and look for lizards. I decided to do a little research and found that our lizards are called Carolina anole (Anolis carolinensis) .

Mother's Day

This is the two year anniversary of www.pbgarden.com and my 35th Mother's Day.

To Brian and Jennifer:

I love being your Mom !! Thank you for giving me so many wonderful memories.

Texas Gold Columbine

It was so lovely to sit in the shade garden today after work. Our Texas Gold Columbine is in full bloom and I love the unusual shape of the full flower, just exquisite. Texas Gold Columbine is a perennial and of course native to Texas. It does best in shade to part sun and blooms in the spring.

For Uncle Oscar

We will miss you !!

An April Day in the Garden

Paul and I walked around in our garden today and found so many beautiful buds and blooms.

California Poppy Day is April 6th

The California poppy (Eschscholzia californica) is the official flower of California and April 6th is designated as California Poppy Day. I have many memories of poppies so I just had to grow them in P & B's Garden.

Photography Lesson #2

Today I met Bruce Rosensteil of Small World Photos for my second photography lesson at the Botanical Gardens in Grapevine. It was an overcast day so I learned about low lighting. We also focused in on a waterfall and caught it in still motion and with movement.

What A Perfect Day

I could not wait to get home today. It was 70 degrees outside, the sun was shining and my garden was waiting for me. The smiley face of this tulip caught my eye and I could not resist posting it tonight. What a perfect day !!
