They're back ! Fire Ants, Spring 2014. I researched progress made by our great state of Texas to eliminate fire ants, something that has turned into a life threatening hazard for me. I found that the University of Texas in Austin has a Fire Ant Project.
This beautiful Saturday morning I enjoyed our flowering bougainvillea hanging from the ceiling of our conservatory. According to Wikipedia this plant is native to South America.
Last year my friend brought me a honeysuckle plant at the end of the planting season. This variety of honeysuckle is a tender perennial for North Texas, so we brought it in over the winter. All summer I waited for it to bloom.
I had this old frame that was so pretty I did not want to throw it away, so I created a live picture of one of the most beautiful shade gardens we have ever grown. The picture frame is full of inpatiens and surrounded by hydrangea, sea oats, asparagus ferns and caladiums.
Our candle trees are lovely this year and their blooms mean that fall is near. I am so grateful to have this beautiful garden surrounding my house that I can view and enjoy from every window.
